The movie '52 Pick-Up' (1986) is based on Elmore Leonard’s novel and starred Roy Scheider and Ann Margaret. It was directed by John Frankenheimer who also directed one of my favorite films

‘The Manchurian Candidate’ (1962).

Solitaire was used in that movie to trigger Raymond Shaw's actions.
