This cache is located near the LORAN C station north of Havre. I've known of LORAN C and the station, but never really realized what it was used for. LORAN C was the system in place before GPS and was turned off by the US Coast Gaurd in early 2010.
The cache is located a ways away from the tower, mainly for two reasons. One, I didn't want to place the cache too close to federal land. Two, my son INSISTED we hide the cache at this location. Once you find the cache, I'd recommend getting a closer look at this tower because it size is deceptive.
This cache contains a log book, writing stick, and swag for boys and girls. It's also a pretty easy find and only a few minutes from the highway to make it a great spot for TravelBug's heading north.
