Geocache Description:

Small container nearby the Naval Support Activity (NSA), Norfolk Compound. This is the closest location without being on federal or Norfolk & Southern Railroad property.

This is a tribute to United States Joint Forces Command. The demise of this Four Star, Joint Command was sealed after the announcement by the Secretary of Defense on 9 August 2010 that he intended to close JFCOM.

On 4 August 2011, JFCOM was disestablished in a formal ceremony at the Command's Suffolk campus. Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and General Ordierno, the final Commander of JFCOM hauled down the command flag for the last time. Many of the employees are now working for the Joint Staff or have found positions with other military commands in the area. Military members are rolling to new assignments and many contractors have been reassigned or laid off.

JFCOM is the first Combatant Command to be disestablished.

This cache is a tribute to those who support the joint warfighter!

Congratulations to Eddieandeddie on FTF Honors!
