Geocache Description:

This is cache #1 in a series of 25 traditional caches on circular walk of approximately 7 miles taking in some of the impressive sandstone outcrops well know for in this area. The walk uses some of the western sections of the Tunbridge Wells Circular Path and the High Weald Trail.

A Small Taste Of Bigger Things To Come

Starting from the Eridge Rocks Nature reserve car park you’ll firstly head out over open fields (a bit of a boring flat featureless field for the first 700 mtrs I’m afraid with no opportunities for a cache but it gets better) towards Harrison Rocks then along a section of the Spa Valley steam railway line up to Groombridge where you’ll see some old rolling stock. Then on past Groombridge Place towards High Rocks and by kind permission of the RSPB and Sussex Wildlife Trust, back through Broadwater Forest, crossing into Broadwater Warren at the main RSPB Reserve car park and finally back through the Eridge Rocks Nature Reserve itself.

You‘ll see that there are several access points to this walk with various parking areas so there’s plenty of opportunity to start wherever you like or split it up into a series of shorter walks... BUT PLEASE DON'T DRIVE DOWN ANY PRIVATE ROADS OR DRIVEWAYS.

The route comprises a total mixture of surfaces. Some good even after heavy rain but others muddy and some very muddy indeed so don’t expect to go home with clean boots.

The caches are mainly micros with no pens/pencils but there are four larger caches for swaps, TB’s and GC’s etc.

There are no puzzles, formulas, bonuses or gimmicks on this series, just a good long walk with minimal gradients and passing some interesting locations. It's substantially dog friendly with no livestock (not when we were there anyway), little roadwork and no 'dog-unfriendly' stiles.

In general, attributes are for the whole series but we have selectively put in a parking attribute where caches are fairly close to a public road. Also there are no bikes or horses allowed in the RSPB Reserve - Caches # 20, 21 & 22 or in the Sussex Wildlife Trust area, Caches 24 & 25.

Good luck and have fun.
