A series of 15 caches plus 2 others on a 3 mile walk around the village of Old Heathfield.
The walk will take you along some roadway with footpaths, then into a beautiful churchyard for a micro and across some very pretty countryside where you will hardly see a soul.
Please keep to the footpaths and take care when retrieving and replacing the caches.
Muddy and wet in places in winter. Not sure if its suitable for some large dogs as the stiles are tricky in places and there are quite a few pheasants about.
Historically, Heathfield lay on an ancient trackway connecting the South Downs with the Weald. Its market charter was granted in February 1316 during the reign of Edward II. The Wealden iron brought prosperity to the town during the 16th/17th centuries. The town holds an annual fair named the Heffle Cuckoo Fair each April which is celebrated at the location of cache number 1.
Heathfield Park is located along the route and boasts an impressive mansion and parkland which is walled around the boundary for some 4 miles.
