Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Cambridgeshire village of Friday Bridge and continues the series “Poppies on Parade” which was created by Mr Nibbler.

Like every village, town and city in the UK, Friday Bridge has sent its sons and daughters to serve at sea, on land and in the air. For those who failed to return, almost every settlement in the UK has a dedicated monument at which the fallen are remembered every year.

You will be taken to Friday Bridge war memorial, which is a clock tower situated on the road junction at the heart of the village. Despite its name, there is no longer any evidence of a bridge here, as it now lies
as an archway beneath the road and gardens surrounding the memorial.

However, the absence of a bridge (and any obvious waterway) can perhaps be compensated by the nearby water tower which - reminiscent of a castle’s keep - creates an extraordinary landmark. Together with the tottering outline of St Mark’s Church these features add to the village's sense of history and character.

Parking is available in the vicinity of the cache and a bus service operates Monday to Saturday.

The cache is NOT hidden on the memorial and the site is overlooked by residents and passers-by, so stealth is required at all times. Please treat the area with respect and keep a watchful eye on any children who might accompany you.

You are looking for a nano cache with a just a tiny logbook inside so please remember to bring your own pen/pencil and just add the date and your initials, making sure that the cache is carefully replaced so that it remains well out of view.

Finally, please spare a thought for those whose names are inscribed here:

When you go home tell them of us and say:
"For your tomorrow we gave our today"
