This is the third of my hill climb caches where you get to enjoy the feeling of achieving something worthwhile and picking up a smiley. Located not far from the summit of the Crinoline, also known as Mt Ligar an ammo can awaits those willing to put in a bit of effort to reach GZ. At the beginning of the hike you have a couple of options for your ascent. The Crinoline track up Smith st is one, with the track having had a bit of work done on it recently, or the straight up the hill behind the Grammar school camp being option number 2. Plenty of regrowth after the fires up this way has made the routes to the top a bit more of a challenge, but I still would consider this a comfortable day hike for most with a reasonable fitness level. There is a small amount of rock scrambling just before reaching the very top and the cache is hidden about 150mtrs from there at 1162 mts elevation. Inside the ammo can is a clue to the six part hill climb series of caches that will take you to a future mystery climb cache. Record this clue if you think you might be interested in finding that one later on. This hike has an elevation gain of about 850mts and is approx 12ks return. Allow 5-6 hrs for the return trip taking it pretty easy. Remember the weather can change quickly in the area so be prepared.
