This rather simple cache is located along the loop path at the edge of the recently rehabilitated Mangere Lagoon. It pays homage to the variety of bird life which inhabit the area. See if you can spot any of them while finding the cache; they can be seen around the shallows and also at roost on the scoria cone located in the centre of the lagoon.
The path around Mangere Lagoon is part of the 7km long Watercare Coastal Walkway. The walk can be started from either Ambury Farm Park or from Creamery Road near the treatment plant. Cycling is also an option.
Unfortunately dogs are unable to accompany you on your treasure hunt at the request of the council. The cache is accessable at all hours however it is recommended that this cache be attempted during the day.
For history of the area please see the image attached titled 'History of Mangere Lagoon'.
Happy hunting!
