You'll need to have a compatible Garmin GPSr with the current
firmware that supports the "chirp". GPSr needs to be set-up to
receive the signal and having the sound on helps. The final
coordinates will be received by your GPSr when you're within 30-40'
of the beacon. The Final Stage is within a few hundred feet of the
beacon.
So one day I was hiking through the Fells & thought of a
good idea for a "chirp" cache. You will have to retrace my steps
until you find both the right trail & right section of the
trail where I placed the "chirp". Once you are there the "chirp"
will pass the coordinates and a hint onto your GPSr to the final
cache location.
Now how do you know where to start?
Lets play a Game of Probability! Here is where the Monty
Hall in me will give you three choices.
- Cross Fells Trail
- Reservoir Trail
- Rock Circuit Trail
You decided It's the trail with the orange blazes.I show you a
trail its not on, which has the blue blazes. This leaves you to
decide between your original guess of the orange blazed trail or
the remaining white blazed trail.
Obviously the big hint above isn't entirely necessary to find
the "chirp", but you are at a distinct advantage having that
information to narrow down your search!
