How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Please take care when closing this container called a decon container. These are waterproof and extremely sturdy AS LONG AS THEY ARE CLOSED PROPERLY! To close properly, place your thumbs on the top and your fingers on the bottom and squeeze tightly until you hear two clicks--one for the front of the lid and one for the back. This will assure that this container stays dry for many years.

Logbook is a Rite in the Rain notepad so even if it's wet, you will be able to sign it. If it gets wet, just wipe it dry please.

I adopted the cache at the top of the mountain (SMT High Point 2) and thought that a geocacher should be rewarded with a couple more caches on the way up to the top. So, this is the first one we placed. My Scouts picked the name. Please log any issues with this cache. If they start logging on this road I may need to disable this cache for a while so let me know if you see signs of logging.

This is the start of a pretty big hike. Since it is on the property of a Boy Scout camp, unless you have permission to drive onto property, you need to park at the parking lot right at the entrance to Camp Tuckahoe. Follow along the trail to avoid having any questions raised while hiking around children who are not your own. So, that being said, I've provided several waypoints for you to follow. Please follow them and and don't stray off the path until you go to find the cache. This cache is near the beginning of a journey to SMT High Point 2

I have spoken with the Camp Ranger Scott, and have his permission to place these caches. Stick to the directions and you shouldn't have any problems. If anyone questions your presence, please let me know ASAP.

The Directions:

Stay on the road/trail until I tell you otherwise!

  • From the Parking Area, head directly toward Fork 1 where you will make a right turn and head toward Fork 2.
  • At Fork 2, you will make another right turn and head toward Fork 3.
  • Turn left at Fork 3 and the cache is just a little further. Don't quit there, Awesome Cubmaster cache is just a little farther.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CACHE IF THERE IS SNOW AROUND OR IF IT IS BELOW FREEZING!
These trails are steep and will get icy in the wintertime.

Please park where indicated by the waypoint. It may appear that you can drive further, but beyond the gate is for Scouters only. Bending this rule may cause us to have to remove this cache. Thank you!
