Geocache Description:

Without a Leg to Stand On is hidden in a small county park, off the beaten path.

The cache is hidden on an historical piece of land in a small Sauk County park, now a National Historic Landmark. Native Americans created this effigy mound sometime between 725 and 1200 A.D. It is the only surviving human-shaped effigy in the upper mid-west. In the late 1800’s, a road grader inadvertently cut off the man’s lower legs during road construction. The missing legs were painted across the road at the time of the park’s centennial celebration, in 2008. Here is a link to more information about the park and effigy mounds: http://www.saukcountyhistory.org/societyparkssites/manmoundpark.html You are looking for a camo film cannister, just big enough for a log and pencil. A gold dollar coin is there for the FTF. Please respect the sacred nature of this site and do not walk on the mound itself.Be sure to grab the virtual cache that is here as well. Permission to place this cache was given by Rob Nurre, Archeological Sites Chairman, Sauk County Historical Society. Aerial View of Park
