Geocache Description:

This cache is located along the Hillman Heritage National Recreation Trail in Land Between The Lakes. There are several trailheads that lead to the cache, but all are within the Hillman Ferry Campground area. You don't have to be a camper there, but it could make the hike shorter if you are a camper. Trail maps available at the campground registration. Trail system is well marked. Coordinates given are at the interpretive marker about Hillman Ferry. Cache is nearby.

The trail system here covers an area once known as the Star Lime Works community, a thriving community once known for the quality of lime produced in the kilns here. Hillman Ferry was a ferry crossing of the Tennessee River operated by Julian Bohanon. The cache is a traditional ammo can and was placed by our family on a camping trip to LBL's Hillman Ferry Campground. The cache can also be accessed easily by water too.
