Geocache Description:

Robert Moses State Park is the oldest operating state park on Long Island and covers about 875 acres. It offers visitors an 18-hole pitch-and-putt golf course, a boat basin, four bath houses, concession stands and swimming, surfing & fishing along its 5 miles of beach.

This Wherigo will take you along a 0.3-mile stretch of boardwalk at the east end of the park. Along the way you’ll have a chance to answer some questions using the information found on nearby signs which describe the plants, dunes, birds, and wildlife. In the final zone you’ll have a little fun with the timer function of your Wherigo device.

NOTE: This cartridge was tested only on a Garmin device, and the timer is not a commonly-used feature. If you have another type of device, such as a mobile phone running a Wherigo app, we cannot guarantee the functionality, but we would greatly appreciate hearing about your experiences.

This Wherigo provides the perfect opportunity for experienced Wherigo cachers to bring along non-caching friends or fellow cachers who do not yet have a Wherigo device. Relatively short, this stroll traverses a very scenic area. Since it follows a boardwalk, it is nearly impossible to get lost, making it ideal for children and those new to geocaching. This walk offers something for everyone. Kids will enjoy finding fun facts on the signs and answering the questions on the device; the naturalists among us are sure to learn something new. And who wouldn't enjoy watching deer at close range?!

Lastly, you should be aware that the final cache container is not located in the State Park. You will receive coordinates to a location which is about 5 miles away. south of Route 27A, east of the Robert Moses Causeway.
