[PL] Czerwony zeliwny krzyz - swiadek burzliwej historii Polski
[EN] Red iron cross - a witness to the Polish turbulent history.
[PL] U wylotu Alei Kasztanowej stoi od stu laty czerwony, wykonany z zeliwa krzyz. Widnieje na nim napis “Bogu na chwale AFK 1909”. Napis ten i krzyz scisle zwiazany jest, zarówno z historia terenów dzisiejszych Kabat, jak i z burzliwymi dziejami Polski.
Jak chce lokalna tradycja, pierwotnie w tym miejscu stal drewniany krzyz, wystawiony w 1864 przez Karola Juliana Karniewskiego - dzierzawcy 20 hektarów ziemi i administratora dóbr hrabiego Potockiego - w podziece za unikniecie zeslania na Sybir. Zeslanie mialo byc kara za nieudana dostawe broni dla powstanców styczniowych, wykryta przez carskich zandarmów, do której Karniewski przyznal sie, aby chronic rodzine Potockich, oraz hrabiego Augusta Potockiego - faktycznego organizatora dostawy. Za ten czyn Karniewski trafil do Cytadeli i grozil mu wlasnie Sybir. W noc przed zsylka, w twierdzy, odbyl sie slub Karniewskiego z narzeczona Cecylia, która miala towarzyszyc mu na zeslaniu. Hrabiemu Potockiemu udalo sie jednak wykupic wieznia z rak carskiej policji i z wdziecznosci podarowal mu dzierzawiona dotad ziemie.
W 1909 roku syn Karniewskich, Antoni, wraz z zona Florentyna przeniesli krzyz w poblize swojego domu - drewnianego dworku, znajdujacego sie w Alei Kasztanowej, a w jego miejsce wystawili krzyz zeliwny.
Skrzynka została ukryta kilka metrów od krzyża.
[EN] At the exit Kasztanowa Avenue faces from a hundred years ago, red, made of cast iron cross. Bears the inscription "For the glory of God, AFK 1909". This inscription and the cross is closely linked to the history of the area today Kabat, and with the turbulent Polish history.
How wants a local tradition, originally there was a wooden cross, issued in 1864 by Charles Julian Karniewski - tenants of 20 hectares of land and the administrator of Count Potocki's - as a reward for avoiding deportation to Siberia. The deportation would be the punishment for a failed delivery of weapons to the insurgents of January, detected by the tsarist gendarmes. Karniewski admitted to the organization in order to protect the family Potocki and Count Potocki August - the actual organizer of delivery. For this act Karniewski went to the Citadel and threatened him with Siberia's. The night before the deportation, in the fortress, was a wedding with Karniewski fiancee Cecilia, who had accompanied him in exile. Count Potocki, however, failed to redeem the prisoner from the hands of the tsarist police and gratitude gave him the land previously leased.
In 1909 Anthony, son of karniewski, along with his wife, Flora, moved cross to the vicinity of his house - a wooden mansion, situated in the Kasztanowa Avenue, and in its place erected a cross of iron.
