Geocache Description:

Starting at the coordinates given above, you will be taken on a tour of several features with a common (tenuous) theme. It's just under 1km on foot or bike, visiting the waypoints in order.

Note, due to the urban landscape, GPS reception at the first waypoint is very poor. I've had around 30m variance here in bad conditions, but the coordinates given should get you close. You're looking for a rather obvious monument to one James Mooney. It's also known as the "Eagle St Fountain", if that helps. And it's not in the middle of the road, whatever Google Maps might have to say about it.

James Thomas Mooney, a firefighter, lost his life at the tender age of 22, after sustaining massive burns fighting a fire in a Queen St grocery store. The fountain stands as a monument not only to him, but to all firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Take a moment to study this grand feature. Curiously, it was not originally dedicated to Mooney, but became associated with him anyway. It wasn't for another century that the association was made official, and a dedication placed to the young fireman.

Look closely at the monument. On one side is a dedication to young Mooney. "A" is the number of letters in the first word here.

Now explore the surrounding area. Study the benches carefully. You are looking for two metal plaques.

The first of these is a prayer. Read it, reflect on it, then count the number of words in the second last line. This number is "B".

The second plaque gives some history of the monument. Its cost, in pounds, was "CDF". And finally, the number of numerals in the last paragraph is "G".

Checksum: A+B+C+D+F+G=30

Your next waypoint, then, is at S 27° 27.CFB E 153° 01.AGB, where you'll find... another memorial. Unlike poor James Mooney, you may have actually heard of this chap.

There are some brass letters on the front of this one. H is the number of times the word "to" appears in brass. And when was this fellow born? In the year "JKLM".

A solid stone tablet has been affixed to the side of this feature, explaining its placement here. We're going to count the number of words in the tenth line, and call it "P".

Checksum: H+J+K+L+M+P=28

And with that, your next stop is at S 27° 27.BPJ E 153° 01.AHL, where... yes, you guessed it, another monument of historical significance. Count the number of years mentioned on the little plaque, and call it Q. While you're studying the years, note the one in which the monument was placed here. That's "RTUV" to us.

Checksum: Q+R+T+U+V=19

Putting all that together, you can now take a short stroll to S 27° 27.CHT E 153° 01.MQP and find a cache! This can be a high muggle area at times, so please try not to attract too much attention to yourself.

NOTE: This cache contains a clue for GC2K7BY Seventh Heaven.

Congratulations to Palopinto and NyletaM for the FTF.
