The Cache is located near the very important Bunyaville Substation! It is a short and easy walk from the Chinook Street stores car park.
During late 2006 and early 2007, Energex completed a more than $15 million upgrade to the northern Brisbane electricity network that reinforced supply to more than 50,000 homes and businesses in seven suburbs in the area.
The multi-stage project included the installation of six 110,000 volt power cables between the Bunyaville substation on Old Northern Road and the Stafford substation in Appleby Road, and a range of associated works in surrounding streets.
This project will ensure that the local area has a more robust power supply with increased capability to meet current and future demands. The additional capacity will provide Energex technicians with more switching options to restore power faster after unexpected damage to the network caused by storms and wild weather, vehicles hitting power poles or underground cables being accidentally damaged. Electricity use in the area is increasing at rates above regional and national averages with dozens of new houses and units and commercial premises connecting to the local power network every week.
Suburbs that benefited from the upgrades associated with this project include Chermside, Chermside West, Stafford, Stafford Heights, Everton Hills, Everton Park and McDowall.
