Geocache Description:

My imaginary friend Loopy is back with another puzzle. And he's doing this one solo! Bijoux sends her best.

There is NO cache at the listed coordinates. The posted coordinates will take you to the middle of a lake. I have no idea the depth of this particular body of water, but I strongly suspect it is deeper than would be warranted by a 1.5 terrain cache. You are going to have to solve the puzzle (all of which is below) in order to find the cache.

Loopy sent the following puzzle around to the group. He said he decided to call it "All or Nothing at All" since, as he explained things, if you figure the correct approach you will get this one immediately, but if you don't, you may never get it. When our mutual buddy Hoot started channeling Frank Sinatra and singing "All or Nothing at All" with backup from Boopsy and Bijoux, that cache name almost went down the tubes. The girls make reasonable backup singers but Hoot's ability to carry a tune "needs work".

Loopy let slip that he learned this particular code in either 3rd or 4th grade and has been carrying it around with him for all these years. One of the twins, either Denny or Knox, chimed in with, "In that case it's got to be some preliminary version of a Caesar Cipher." The group chuckled but Loopy just did his best Wicked Witch of the West imitation and said, "I'll get you my pretty, and your little dog, too." Of course, all this could be an effort on Loopy's part to completely throw us off of the scent. You never know with the old Loopster.

Loopy's 3rd/4th Grade Puzzle

One coordinate = 770.3890 * 98.5

The other coordinate = 385.6274 * 67.2

Note from 12/18/19: Once again the cache has "gone missing". When you get a solve for the coords, subtract .003 from north and .006 from west. The container has is now one of my Ikea nanos, but that information is not as relevant as you might think. I was reading +-20 ft when I took the reading. You can easily check out the original location if it so pleases you.

In order to actually lay hands on this cache, you WILL need something that is in your collection of geo-tools in your geo-kit. And if this particular tool is NOT in there, well shame on you.

The puzzle itself is rated a 1.5 for the people who get the answer. For those who do not get it, the difficulty increases exponentially depending on how much of it you don't get. Theoretically, it could go to infinity. Practically, it will go to somewhat less than that. There is no geochecker on this one. If you get the answer, it will be very obvious. If you don't, that too will be obvious.

You are looking for something that will hold a log. Beyond that, I prefer to not tell you the size, shape, or anything about the actual cache. The puzzle is easy enough that I have to put some sort of challenge into this one. Otherwise, I might as well walk you right up to it.

Parking could be an issue with this one. There really isn't any that is convenient. It is likely you will have to walk between a quarter and a half mile from your vehicle. But at the same time, from most of the four cardinal directions the path will be paved (and if not, you are lost). North is more problematic. Try NE instead. Geo-pups and mini-cachers should have no issue with this one, although keeping each on a leash would be a very good idea. Muggles could be a problem depending on the day and time of day.

I was getting between 12 and 16 feet of accuracy (OK, 14 feet) when I made the initial readings. If anyone has better coordinates, please let me know.

And once again, for those who already have one or more FTFs, if you could please wait 24 hours, then we can share the FTF wealth. Obviously, once the log is written into the first time, all bets are off. I cannot enforce that request but I will ask nicely. And if it weren't my cache, I would have to wait also.

Of course, since this is a Northern Virginia cache, the usual warnings apply. Heed all signs, always cross at a crosswalk, and wash behind your ears.

AARGH. Congratulations to Pirate Rat for the FTF!!
