Shinob Kibe Trailhead Traditional Cache
BlueRajah: I am archiving this cache to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. The reviewers requested the cache to be reviewed and no action was taken. If this was done in error please contact me immediately. If the cache was archived because of maintenance issues (no response to our earlier notes on the cache page) you will need to submit a new cache.

The original trailhead and lower portion of the trail to the top of this peak, Shinob Kibe, (pronounced Shuh-KNOW-bee KY-bee) which is very rich in history has been replaced by houses, yards and No Trespassing signs. (For more detailed info about this sacred mesa, go to www.ShinobKibe.info)
To keep the good name of Geocaching alive, this new trailhead was born. It starts at a slightly lower elevation, but does not require trespassing. The upper trail is still usable, so by starting at this trailhead cache, you can intersect the upper trail and continue your ascent on the original upper trail.
Total hiking time to the top if you decide to continue up will be about 20 - 30 minutes depending on your preferred heart rate.
This new lower trail has become more beaten since the trailhead has been moved to this location, but there is still a bit of confusion at the lower starting point. The best advice I can give so you most easily and quickly find the right trail up is to head toward the largest and tallest rock standing in the right hand side of the lower flat area. The few lower starting trails all intersect there and the lone main trail up will be easily identifiable at that point.
The jeek can be found under the waist high zero rock in a small hole at ground level on the north side. Please hide well so hikers don't see it.
The Geocacher “Astounding” has done a wonderful job in planting and maintaining the "Shinob Kibe Cache" as well as doing research about the Concrete Arrows in Southwestern Utah, the History of the Paiute Indians in Southern Utah, and the Benchmark on Shinob Kibe. Be sure to read his cache description page for his explanations and links. He did a great job.
As always, take care, have fun, and… Drink til you’re hungry, eat til you’re sleepy, sleep til you’re jeeky, jeek til you’re thirsty, repeat.
