Greetings,

It has been a while since I first looked at this cache. I can't find any recent responses about maintaining this cache so for the time being it will be archived and removed from the active cache listings. We are no longer leaving caches stay disabled for extended periods of time.

Groundspeak and the geocaching community appreciate your contributions to geocaching and I hope to see this cache back in operation soon.

If you can get it back up and running in the next week or so contact me to get it re-listed. Otherwise plan to move it slightly and set up a new cache page.

Geocache Description:

While placing this cache, I happened to notice something very odd looking on the ground and said to myself....EEEEWWWW.....WHAT is THAT?? It was about the size of a baseball with 1/2" spikes all around it. Not sure if there was anything inside it that could come after me (like thousands of spiders - despite the 40 degree weather) I carefully nudged it with a stick. Deciding that is was safe to investigate further, I rolled it over and noticed there was something that looked like a seed inside. Then I looked up and noticed one still on the tree that was close by, and still more on the ground underneath it. I had never seen a tree with seed pods like this and have since discovered it is a chinese chestnut tree. This tree is not at ground zero, but you should go right past it to get to the cache. Your are looking for a camoed lock-lock container The staff prides their selves on maintaining a well-groomed nature reserve. Since it is a lot of work they have some rules that must be followed to keep this area open to us for caching. 1) Sorry but NO PETS 2) No fires or smoking are allowed 3) Bikes are permitted but only on the service roads. Bikes are not allowed on the trails 4) No hunting, fishing or swimming The only way to enter the property is through the front gate (entering any other way is considered trespassing); there is a $5.00 admission charge for adults, senior citizens (65 and over), $3.00, children twelve and under are free. Members of Missouri Botanical Garden or Shaw Nature Reserve are free. Grounds are open 7:00 am to one-half hour past sunset. The visitor center is open 8:00 am to 4:30 pm weekdays and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm weekends. Thanks to Lydia Toth for allowing these caches to be placed
