Geocache Description:

Venus

In its old position, Venus was often muggled. It has moved a bit in its orbit and, although it is a less interesting hide, is hopefully in a safer spot. You are looking for a magnetic key holder, containing only a log. BYOP.Compared to the size of
the house representing the Sun, Venus would be larger than a
softball but smaller than a bowling ball. With that in mind, take a
look in the direction of the Sun and consider that image.
The Series
One of my great loves is astronomy. This series of ten caches is
designed to give you a sense of the size of the solar system by
placing caches at the correct relative locations of the Sun and the
planets. The series is all based on the scale that 1 mile = 1
astronomical unit (AU), which is the distance from the Earth to the
Sun.
Most diagrams of the solar system show the planets all lined up
in a row. That’s not how they are! Although they are all in a
plane, they are almost always in different directions from the Sun.
This series replicates that for the closer planets by placing the
caches at the right distances from the Sun but in a variety of
directions. For the more distant planets, I more or less lined them
up to save on driving.
You do not need to do the series in any order, but I strongly
recommend starting with the Sun if you really want to gain a sense
of the size of our solar system. A couple of the caches hold a
trade item or two. Most are BYOP. I hope you enjoy the series.
