Everyone can use some Christmas Cache. Merry Christmas everyone, happy holidays, and happy new year. We hope everyone had a great 2010 and we wish all the best for the new year.
This cache is hidden with permission in the Big Fish Lake day use area of the Ortonville Recreation Area.
The Ortonville Recreation Area offers high wooded hills and a wide range of recreational activities.The original park, Bloomer #3 State Park, was donated by Howard Bloomer in December of 1922. Development began in 1945, but by the end of 1948, more than 3,700 acres had been secured for the purpose of public recreational use.
The day use area at Big Fish Lake offers 300 parking spaces, restroom facilities, a picnic area, two picnic shelters, a playground, horseshoe pits, and a designated swim area.
Big Fish Lake is a 105 acre deep lake that offers fair to good angling for largemouth bass, panfish and brown trout. Browns have been historically stocked in Big Fish Lake and fish up to 20 inches have been taken.
Park hours are from 8 am to 10 pm daily, unless otherwise posted at the entrance. Please respect any posted hours.
A Michigan State Parks Recreation Passport is required.
