Geocache Description:

This Cache is part of the "Cache Hike #1, Mt. Mitosan to Ome-City" Backpacking - GeoCaching course. The Cache is a regular size (like a shoe box) plastic container and painted in a Camo pattern. This Cache is located close to the Mt Gozen-Yama Peak at approx 1405 meters in altitude.

Mt. Gozen-Yama is one of the Three famous mountains of Okutama and a popular day hike for many people in the spring - summer - & - fall. During winter, it's a tough mountain to climb and may require special gear. Snow is problematic!!

This Cache has a log book and several items to TRADE with lucky Cachers that find this Cache. Please trade FAIRLY so this Cache will last a long time!!

There is a Log Book --- however, please bring your own pen. In the winter a pen would freeze and break, at this altitude and with the low temps that occur here.

The Cache is about 20meters Northeast of the actual mountain peak. Cache is offset from the peak due to the many muggles that climb this mountain throughout the year.

The Cache is NOT in plain sight either which means it might take a few moments to find. Please replace this Cache (carefully and skillfully) to its hide and replace the Camo just like you found it!!

MUGGLES are a big problem here during fair weather and they tromp all around the peak area. So, good placement and Camo are necessary to ensure the Cache won't go missing to soon

Approaching this Mountain from the West from the mountain road is a significant hike of about four to five hours and most of the way is Up Hill. And it's steep too.

If you approach from the East from the Odawa Pass and Forestry road, it's still a significant hike with an Up Hill climb of about 3 to 4 hours to the Peak, and at least 1.5 hours to return (if you are not carrying a heavy pack).

Additionally, iPhones do not work in this area either. So, please use a good GPS to go after this Cache.

Please remember SAFETY and all the items (10 essentials etc...) you should take when hiking in a remote mountainous area. Weather changes quickly sometimes and can cause a significant threat to your safety if you are not properly equipped.

So, like a good Boy Scout... be prepaired !

Ok... Good Luck and Happy Huntinig!!

Enjoy GeoCaching!!
