Geocache Description:

UPDATE 11/7/21: With the many favorite points it has earned, we are hoping to keep this cache active. However, I fear it has been targeted by a MWNAL (that's a Muggle Who Needs to get A Life). We're trying one more time with the cache in a new location, and are providing what we hope are clear directions to keep your hunting time brief:

The cache is on the bridge, and can be accessed from the WEST side walk (that's on your right if you're walking in from the Downsville side). Look for a bison tube hanging on a hook behind the 8th vertical (not diagonal) support counting from the Downsville side (it's also the support that's directly in line with the roof light). You'll have to climb up on the railing (lowest rung will do) to get it. Replace quickly and be on your way!

PS: It's been >10 years since this cache was placed on that snowy winter's night. Claire and Akiva don't fight in the back of the car anymore, since they now have cars of their own!

SHOOTOUT AT THE DOWNSVILLE COVERED BRIDGE

What's worse than driving home in a blazing blizzard? Driving home in a blazing blizzard with Claire and Akiva fighting in the back seat!

Somewhere near Harriman on the New York State Thruway, I told them that if they didn't cut it out, I'd stop the car and let them have it! Well, they knew I couldn't stop on the Thruway, so they didn't cut it out.

Somewhere near Goshen on State Rt. 17, I told them that if they didn't cut it out, I'd stop the car and let them have it! But they knew I couldn't stop on State Rt. 17, so they didn't cut it out.

Then we got to Downsville on County Road 206. Now, here I really COULD stop, and I did! "That's it kids, I'm pulling over now and you're gonna get it!"

"Look Dad," they cried, "There's a covered bridge! Don't you think that would make a great place for a geocache?"

Well, they were right! And I even had a cache all ready to go! But wasn't I supposed to discipline them or something? "OK kids, but after I place this cache, I'm gonna come back to the car and let you have it!"

"We have it already, Dad," they said. "Now why don't you just go and find a place to put it!"

And when I'd placed the cache and returned to the car, the kids had stopped fighting, and the snow had stopped falling. And we all drove home happily ever after.

THE END
