La Aventura de los hombre bailando: Más Monigotes
Watson observó a Holmes muy pensativo e intrigado observando con gran interés las curiosas figuras entregadas por el Sr. Cubitt, quien días después envió a Holmes un telegrama sugiriéndole que se habían presentado novedades de importancia e informando que llegaría a la estación de Liverpool Street a la una y veinte.
No tuvieron que esperar mucho para ver llegar al Sr. Cubitt a quien se le veía angustiado y deprimido, con ojos fatigados y la frente llena de arrugas. Se sentó en una butaca y explicó a Holmes que por más intentos que ha hecho para que su esposa confíe en él, no había sido muy hábil para lograrlo y únicamente consiguió asustarla.
El Sr. Cubitt también comentó a Holmes, que al regresar de su primer visita encontró otra nueva cosecha de monigotes pintados (Mensaje 2) con tiza en la puerta negra de madera de cobertizo donde se guardan las herramientas. Dos días apareció otra inscripción (Mensaje 3) y a los tres días volvieron aparecer los mismos dibujos sobre el reloj de sol sujetado con una piedra.
Después de los últimos dibujos el Sr. Cubitt decidió ponerse al acecho, así que tomó su revólver y se sentó en el estudio, desde un punto en el que podía observar el césped y el jardín. A las dos de la mañana escucho pasos a su espada, era su esposa quién le rogó que se fuera a la cama, sin embargo él estaba decidido a investigar quién estaba jugando con ellos. Ella insistió en que debería irse a dormir. En ese instante el Sr. Cubitt logró distinguir una figura negra y encogida que doblaba la esquina arrastrándose y se agachaba delante de la puerta, así que tomo su revólver y se disponía a salir cuando esposa lo rodeó con los brazos con fuerza histérica y desesperación. Cuando logró liberarse salió al cobertizo y observó que el individuo había desaparecido. Por la mañana observó detenidamente la puerta y descubrió que el individuo había dibujado varias figuritas en la puerta. (Mensaje 4)
Al final del relato, el Sr. Cubitt le dijo a Holmes que tenía que regresar ya que por nada del mundo dejaría sola a su esposa por la noche. Ella estaba nerviosa y le había solicitado que regresara.
The Adventure of the Dancing Men: More Dancing Men
Watson watched Holmes very thoughtful and intrigued by watching with great interest the curious figures given by Mr. Cubitt, who days after Holmes sent a telegram suggesting that there had been significant developments and report to come to Liverpool Street station to one twenty.
They not had to wait long to see Mr. Cubitt whom he seemed anxious and depressed, with tired eyes and wrinkled forehead. He sat in a chair and told Holmes that by more attempts he has made with his wife, her don´t trust him, had not been very clever to make it and only managed to her scare.
Mr Cubitt also told Holmes, after returned from his first visit he found another new crop of puppets painted (message 2) with chalk on black wooden door of the tool-house. Another inscriptions appeared two days (message 3) and three days later returned the same pictures on the sundial placed under a pebble.
After the last drawings Mr. Cubitt decided to lie in wait, so he took his gun and sat in the studio, from a point where he could see the lawn and garden. At two o'clock he hear the footsteps of his sword, was his wife who begged him to go to bed, but he was determined to find out who was playing with them. She insisted that he should go to sleep. At that moment Mr. Cubitt was able to distinguish shrunken an black figure that crept round the corner and crouched in front of the door, so he took his gun and was about to leave when wife wrapped her arms tightly hysterical and desperate. When he managed to free himself out to the shed and found that the man had disappeared. Morning observed the door carefully and discovered that the man had drawn several figures in the door. (message 4)
At the end of the story, Mr. Cubitt told Holmes he had to return and that nothing in the world would leave his wife alone at night. She was nervous and had asked to return.
