Geocache Description:

The RTDL houses many books on various historical subjects, places, ethnic groups, family histories, references, various maps and census records, and other valuable resources on microfilm. It is maintained by and is the meeting place of the Ranger Historical Preservation Society.

A stretch of the historic brick Bankhead Highway can be seen behind the research center. An old gas station from that time period still stands with an historical marker beside the highway just south of the research center. The highway was built in the 1920s using bricks manufactured in the historic town of Thurber, some miles east of Ranger. Parts of this old highway can also still be seen in Eastland and Cisco to the west.

The research center is named in honor of Ruth Terry Denney. The open row of buildings, close to the library houses from time to time, revivals, Benefit BBQ's, flea Markets, etc.

This location was chosen because it is very close to a main exit off of I-20. Easy on and easy off whether you are headed Eastbound or Westbound and there is room for a TB. Container is camoed. Happy caching and don't forget C1GQKW Welcome to Eastland on your I-20 westbound travels.
