Geocache Description:

!!! Happy New Year !!!!

Placed just in time for new year's eve, this cache is located next to one of the newest sections of the Scantic River Greenway in East Windsor. This section of the greenway trail should one day link to Scantic River State Park to the north.

Mills once thrived along the shores of parts of the Scantic River as a way to obtain hydropower. Keep a watchful eye out for remains of the millls as you walk along the trail. The Scantic River Watershed is quite active in the area and, in addition to trail development, plans to one day clear the river to make canoe and kayak travel easier.

The parking area is closed at dusk and appears not to be ploughed in winter. Be careful walking across the bridge to the trailhead.
