Geocache Description:

More Butler County history !!

A trio at this location !


The red-brick building on the corner (east of gz) was Bishop School. It had become a residence, but when we placed the cache, it no longer looks like anyone lives there.

Bishop Cemetery was located behind the school. While volunteering at the Butler County History Center and doing research on the cemeteries, I talked to a few locals who had attended Bishop School. They remember the cemetery behind the school.

Later, the railroad came thru and you can see the abandoned site where the white gate is (west of gz).

The locals who remember attending school there could not verify if the cemetery residents were moved or (as the rumor goes) the landowner removed the headstones but no bodies were moved.

While placing this cache, we also found a benchmark there!
