Las Orquedias waterfall is located on the Machay River and is one of about seven waterfalls on that river as it decents to the Pastaza River. You can find three waterfall caches at about a 15 minute hiking interval as you climb the trail from the highway between Banos and Puyo.
Look for a small medicine bottle type container with a log sheet. Bring your own pen. Suitable for only the smallest items. Stop and take in the beauty of the area. At certain times of the year you will likely see hundreds of butterflies.
