This cache has been archived.

gsix5666: In the area today hiding caches. Decided to check on this cache while I was here. The final location was pretty much clear cut and the final container and all the hiding spots near the area are gone. With great regret I have to shut this cache down. Thanks for all the finds and the favorite points.

Challenging Night Cache #700

I have been debating what to hide for my 700 cache placement, I wanted to do something out of the ordinary but could not come up with any ideas. Last night I did a little caching with BAPMAN and paldog0603. The goal was to find a night cache for BAPMAN’s 2000th find. We did this and went on to find 4 night caches in total. I really liked the night caches we did and they were all really fun. I decided then and there that #700 would be a night cache but where to hide it. This morning I woke up with the best spot for this cache in my mind and went straight to working on it.

This cache will probably be one of the more challenging if not the most challenging night cache you have ever done. I will give you a few WARNINGS and you would be a smart cacher to heed them.

  1. It is recommend that you don’t do this cache alone
  2. The terrain can be uneven and unpredictable watch your footing!
  3. DO NOT enter any water. It will be dark and you won't know how deep it is.
  4. In the winter DO NOT walk on any ice in the area!!!
  5. Bring extra batteries for your flashlight and GPSr.
  6. Make sure your GPS tracking is turned ON.
  7. There will be some small hills and bushwacking. Be careful.

While looking for this cache you will need to know:

Three orange dots will signify the start of the Night Cache

Two orange dots means the trail splits. One of the trails will have a dead end.

One Orange dot and One White dot means you have hit a dead end.

When you start finding only white dots you are close to the cache.

X marks the spot for the final. The container is within one foot of the X.

If you come across more than one white reflector this was done to make the trail you need to follow easier because of the distance or brush in the area.

There are some dead ends to this cache, this is why I recomend that you keep your tracking on. Do yourself a favor and mark a waypoint at the intersections so you can find your way back. This cache will be a sugnificant hike and may take some time.

At the beginning of this cache there is a split in the reflective trail. You will have to decide which route to take right off the bat. Make your decisions carefully and maybe, just maybe, you won't make any wrong turns.

If you would like (it is not required) state how many wrong turns you made while doing this cache in your log.

FYI: There were over 120 reflective dots used for this cache.

Please Do Not find this cache during the daytime. This should be done at night.
