A stunning walking track along Black Jack Hill.
Last year we noticed a sign and walking track entrance from Kuaotunu Beach Reserve. We wondered where it went to, but still recovering from broken bones, it wasn’t a do-able walk for half the team. But now a further year on, we decided to go exploring today. We have got so busy finding caches, that it has been quite some time since we explored a possible spot for a cache.
This spot was too nice not to have a cache placed here. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
The Cache is a small geometical container.
At the time of placement it contained:
Log Sheet, Silica(Please do not take or eat), Stash Note and a few swag items.
BYO Pen.
There are several ways of approaching this cache. The long way walking the entire track (30 mins return) from Kuaotunu Beach Reserve.
Reserve Parking/Track Entrance
S36 43.235 E 175 43.781
Or there is space to pull off Black Jack Road part way up on the gravel road and approach the cache from the top.
Top Entrance Park/Track Entrance
S 36 43.088 E 175 43.780
If you are physically challenged I would opt for the top entrance.
But if you have time the entire walk is very pleasant.
In the winter some care would need to be taken as the track could become very slippery in some places.
