Geocache Description:

This canalside cache is the fifth in our series along the Milnsbridge Circular Walk (MCW). The series is a good way to explore Milnsbridge and discover its industrial past.

This cache brings you to the end of the canal section of the walk, at a length called the Wharf Pond. In its industrial heyday, Milnsbridge was full of mills producing textiles, but nowadays the mills have largely been demolished or turned into flats.

The wharf pond has also changed since I used to fish here with my dad - the reed beds and many of the trees have gone, but it's still a popular place to feed the ducks! You can also view 'The Milnsbridge Baa-rge' a sculpture designed by children from the nearby Crow Lane School and created by local sculptor Mike Disley.

The cache is a small screw top pot and contains only a log and FTF badge, so please bring your own pen.

From here, continue into the centre of Milnsbridge via Tanyard Street and Market Street to arrive back at the starting point of the series.
