How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

The event is free. However there will be the regular entrance fee ($5) for the park. Those with annual passes will not be charged an entrance fee.

Annual passes will be available on site for $36 for regular admission, and $18 for senior passes

EXTRA TICKETS AWARDED TO THOSE WHO BRING A DOOR PRIZE FOR OUR DRAWINGS.

This Year's event will revolve around the original inhabitants of the park, the Adena & Hopewell tribes.

We are also planning children's activities,

Camping is half-off regular price again this year, and is available on park grounds for $11.22 per site/per night (campsites have electric hook-up; vault restrooms available; no showers.)
Up to 3 tents per site OR 1 camper with 1 tent per site will be allowed. This is a great deal! Reservations can be made by contacting Angie at amanuel@dnr.in.gov. We will have campsite hosts this year, so once you’re here they will be available for assistance.

*Update: due to increased printing costs, Youth T-shirts will not be available.***

Exclusive event pathtags (150) are available for $3 each and event T-shirts will be available for: Adult sizes (S-M-L $10) Extra Large (XL-XXL $12). Numbers are limited, so pre-orders will be accepted by contacting Angie Manuel at amanuel@dnr.in.gov . You must be present to receive these items, and unclaimed items will be sold to those on the waiting list.

Schedule of events

9am
Sign in at the pavilion for check in and receive registration packets.

10 am
Start of the event. Meet at the pavilion for the details of the day's events.

11 am
Visitor's Center: Introduction to geocaching presentation hosted by Pilot and the Treasure Hunter (P/TH) for those new to geocaching.

12 pm
Pitch-in lunch at the pavilion.Assignments are by last names beginning with:
A-H Main dish/Entree I-P Dessert Q-Z Soup, Salad, or side dish

* 1st door prize item pick up begins (Continues until 3pm)

1 pm
Group Picture at the Pavilion

1:30-2pm
Atlatl (nearest to the pin) competition begins on lawn east of the Visitor's Center.

3pm
Pavilion: final call for door prize pickup. Special item auction/raffle of donated items.Winners of activities announced.

4pm- 6pm
Meet briefly at the pavilion to thank everyone and explain evening activities.
Free time. On your own for supper

6:00 pm

Flash Mob near the Equinox Mound. Storm Moon Event within the event. Followed by a informative session and Question & Answer hosted by the resident naturalist.

7-11 pm
Night caching (all activities will conclude by 11 pm)
