Geocache Description:


This small settlement was surveyed into 27 allotments in 1875. Near the Gilbert River, a well provided good fresh water to the settlers. In 1864, Mr. Joachim Heinrich Hoepner settled in the area and later built the Alma Hotel at this place in 1871. Mrs C.M. Hoepner (pictured) was the proprietress.

In 1876, Charles Bohnsack opened a greengrocery business and in April 1902, a post office was opened. Unfortunately, this closed in July 1909.
