Well…you should have a leash with you, but Fido doesn’t need to wear it in this section of Alston Park. The 157 acre park is located in northwest Napa. There is a fenced-in common area near the parking lot, but this is not where the cache is located. After making your way up a short hill, a 30 acre wide-open field surrounded by vineyards awaits you and your canine companion. Your furry pal can run around with other dogs, dig for gophers, or simply enjoy the freedom of being off leash! The whole south end of Alston Park is off-leash…not just the fenced-in area near the parking lot. We come here several times a week for a bit of exercise and socializing and we love it!! On clear mornings you might see nearly a dozen hot air balloons in the sky (they frequently touch down in the park, but usually they land in the north end where dogs must be on leash). During the winter months, bring your rubber boots, because the trails will be muddy. The dogs never seem to mind the mud…in fact; they have a great time playing in the large puddles that are created by the rains. Note: Use stealth when grabbing this cache, because you won’t have much cover. **Note - Cache moved & hanging on fence with the hopes of not being engulfed by the berry bush....but still use caution!)**
