Picnic Area

Picnic Area at Paradise Valley Nature Reserve

This cache is located in the Paradise Valley Nature Reserve. A nominal entrance fee is charged. Wild Cards are not accepted here.

Paradise Valley is a lovely reserve, criss-crossed with trails for those who feel like a picnic and a walk on the wild(ish) side. To get there from Pinetown, travel down Stapleton Road towards Sarnia. Cross under the railway bridge and turn left into Eden Road. Follow the road until the end, where the road turns to the right and into the parking lot.

Situated along the Umbilo River, the 100ha reserve has several graded trails and picnic / braai sites on the banks of the river.

The waterfall is particularly beautiful above which is Durban's original waterworks.

Visitors may see mongoose, bushbuck, duiker and otter.

When picnicking take precautions against monkey raids. Ablution facilities are available. Open from 07.00 - 17.00 daily.

Telephone 031-7023443 for additional information.
