A new year's resolution-themed micro at the beginning of Atalaya Trail.
This cache is placed near where the private road trail easement ends and the actual trail begins. THIS CACHE IS NOT A PARK AND GRAB. Parking is at the designated spots for the Atalaya trail. One set of parking spots (few) is just before the gate to the Ponderosa Ridge subdivision, about .3 mile or so away from the cache. The walk is gradually uphill. If you don't get one of those spots, alternate parking is at the Atalaya parking area at St John's College, which is about 1.25 or so miles away.
Please help preserve good relations between hikers and residents by obeying the rules of the easement: stay on the road/trail and do not attempt to drive to the cache, even if the gate happens to be open. It is for residents only and hikers must park at the designated spots. This trail is used extensively by day hikers, but few cachers, it seems. Maybe this will encourage more! We hiked some of the trail today and recommend yaktrax this time of year if you continue on past the cache due to the areas of snow and ice.
The cache itself is a recycled dobroguy CYMP cache, both literally (the container is from one of his archived CYMP caches) and in general style. BYOP. Happy caching!
