2nd Annual Circle City Social

Circle City Social Amazing GeoRace

Welcome to the Circle City Social web site. Dothan Al is well known as the Circle City and this will be our second year designing our event around that fact.

This years Circle City Social is themed around the television show called The Amazing Race. We'll call it The Amazing GeoRace. oooh!! ahhhh!!

This promises to be a fun day full of events, prizes, challenges, and geocaching. It will be a relaxed, family friendly gathering of geocachers with plenty of opportunities to meet other cachers and share stories. We will compete against each other in challenges, swap geocoins, pathtags, and travel bugs plus win prizes.

11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Circle City Social Amazing GeoRace

Luncheon - 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

The day will kick off with a Lunch get together at Eastgate park. This is a nice 200 acre park on the outskirts of Dothan. We will meet at the pavilion by the pond. We will be serving lunch on a first come first served basis while the food lasts. You can enjoy BBQ Beef, baked beans, chips, and refreshments while getting to know cachers from all over the area. Seating is limited so don't forget to bring your folding chairs. This will be a great opportunity to get to know some local cahers you may not have met yet.

Note: Please let us know how many people you will have in your group when logging your "Attend". We want to make sure there is enough food for everyone.

Amazing GeoRace - 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Immediately following lunch the Amazing GeoRace will begin. Teams will need to check in during lunch to establish start times. Each team should try to consist of approximately 4-6 people per team. (Children are welcomed and encouraged to help their parents in the race.) If you don't have an organized team when you arrive, don't worry. There will be plenty of folks needing other team members when you arrive.

This event will require your team to travel (drive) around certain parts of Dothan grabbing caches and clues. The race will be timed and every team must be back by a certain time. Each cache will require a "Find" to get credit. There will be challenges at each cache location giving opportunities to receive significant bonus points. The challenges will not be too demanding but participation will definitely be to your advantage. One camera or cell phone with camera capabilities is required per team.

Last year's Circle City Series consisted of 8 caches. This year the Amazing GeoRace will consist of 6 caches with challenges associated with each one.

Once everyone returns from the race we will announce the winners. There will also be several door prizes and a 50/50 raffle.
