Geocache Description:

This is a six stage multi cache, however the first cache is not at the published coordinates.

The coordinates for the first cache are embodied somewhere on this web page.

You can check your results on Geochecker.com

Each cache will give you the coordinates for the following cache in line. In addition three of the larger caches contain a figure which will each give you part of the coordinates for the final.

***** Update 18.09.14: one of the important larger caches became the victim of some hedgerow maintenance and the whole lot disappeared . I wasn't able to find an affordable replacement figure so you are now looking for two Bar Room Buddies figures and a laminated Bar Room Buddy card. Thanks to LFC4eva for the easier option idea, I was going to rejig the whole of the multi which would have been a lot more work .*****

A word of warning stage three can be difficult to find as it has a habit of blending in very well and getting a little overgrown. It started life as a purpose built item but two of them broke and I found an "off the shelf item" to temporarily replace it as I thought it was a little poor at the time. I think it's probably there to stay as I never got round to creating a third.

The whole multi is themed around the popular television cartoon the Simpson's and more importantly an item of readily available merchandise (this is not a commercial, just a coincidence). As I was offered an incomplete version of said merchandise - free of charge - I felt it would be rude not to accept it and recycle it into the multi cache which I present for your enjoyment. A quick browse on t'interweb may give you an insight on what to expect but won't be required and will give you no real help for a quick answer to the final cache's coordinates.

Most of the multi is set on a fairly flat circular public footpath crossing active farmland. It is not part of the open access moorland that is close by so please be careful to stay on the public footpaths which are well signposted. If the arrow is pointing "off footpath" please don't stray off the footpath until you reach a stile and sign showing a change of direction; all of the five circular caches are set on or extremely close to the marked public footpaths and "following the arrow" will just get you on the wrong side of fences. Although flat a good portion of the footpaths can be extremely wet and muddy. A good pair of waterproof walking boots or Wellington's would be advisory and sometimes the route that looks the worst isn't really that bad, especially in the 'avenue' where the second stage is set. It is definitely a case of "try before you buy” as there is a gravel bar running down the centre which is often firmer than the edges. The whole multi is no more than six miles in length and should take less than three hours to complete, starting and finishing in Brinscall and taking in a pleasant walk along the new Goit bridleway.

The final cache is accessible from the penultimate cache of the multi via Trigg Lane till you get to the Goit and then you are on general access land and there are no holds barred! The easiest route, and the one I would advise, is to follow the zig zagging sheep trails, slightly longer but much easier and safer, trust me I've done it all ways! These start at the first large tree at the base of the slope and initially lead away from the cache but switches back at the next tree.

The coordinates for the final cache can be found as follows:

You will need to find each of the three figures and record the partial coordinates from each. You will then be able to tell which of the four following Bar Room Buddies is missing and use the following published partial coordinates for the missing buddy as well. Finally the penultimate cache will give you the last part of the coordinates.

Homer

There's nothing that Homer Simpson likes more than going to Mo's bar for a few Duff beers and solving many a philosophical debate; "To alcohol; the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems”

If Homer is the missing bar buddy:

N530 ??.??8 W0020 ?4.6??

Moe Szyslak

Moe's bar is owned by Moe Szyslak, a slightly dejected character who is often the butt of the joke from a phone call off a 'mysterious and unknown (to Mo) person'; "hey is there a Butt's here? Seymour butts? Hey everybody! I wanna Seymour Butts!”

If Moe is the missing bar buddy:

N530 ??.??9 W0020 ?4.8??

Barney

Barney Grumble is Homers best friend, as well as being the town drunk and can normally be found propping up the corner of the bar at Moe's; "Hey! can I throw up in your bathroom? I'll buy something!”

If Barney is the missing bar buddy:

N530 ??.??2 W0020 ?4.6??

Duffman

Duffman is the mascot and official spokesperson fro Duff beer, an athletic and smooth talking corporate personality; "Duffman! Wants to party down! With the man who sent in ten thousand doublemo's!”

If Duffman is the missing bar buddy:

N530 ??.??6 W0020 ?4.2??
