Use Forest Service Road 208 off SR87, south of Payson. Turn right onto Forest Service Road 208A and go to end of road (locked gate).
Do not bring trailers, motor homes, or your wife's Mercedes Benz on FS 208A. Turn-around space is minimal and road is more appropriate for small SUVs, Jeeps, small pickups, ATVs or horses. Do not use road after rain.
Cache The Pit is on the route to Stage One. View at Stage one includes SR87, Mazatzals, Mt. Ord, and Four Peaks. Stage two is 700 feet from Stage One. View at Stage Two includes Mogollon Rim.
