mwellman: Well, the lid for this cache is indeed missing and it is not my favourite host so . . .

We are sadly archiving this one. Maybe someone else will have a better idea?

Geocache Description:

The Battleford-Swift Current Trail is a 309 kilometre supply route between the Saskatchewan and the Missouri River systems created by the First Nations and later used by traders and the North West Mounted Police in the 1880s. When the railway reached Swift Current in 1883, this became Battleford's major overland route.

Colonel Otter and his troops traveled on this route on his way to Battleford during the Northwest Rebellion in 1885. The last stage coach came through in 1890 however the trail continued to be used until 1926 when the rail lines had connected the major Saskatchewan cities.

1. At Swift Current's GC18NW7 Wagon Ho, you can see the wagon ruts.
2. The trail continued north through Saskatchewan Landing near GCR32A The Good Win Cache.
3. You can find the next marker at N 51° 12.763 W 108° 16.754 between Plato and Wartime.
4. The trail then winds through east of Biggar.
5. Finally the trail ends up at Battleford and the Battle and the North Saskatchewan Rivers.
