Another cache in a series of squadrons I was attached to during my 28 year Navy career. The VA-97 Warhawks was a squadron homeported in Lemoore California which, at the time, flew the A&-E Corsair II. During the three year tour with this outfit I completed a 6 month deployment onboard the USS Enterprise and spent some time onboard USS Kitty Hawkn and Uss Coral Sea. During that Western Pacific cruise we visited many ports i.e. Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, The Phillipine Islands, and Austrailia. However, we spent most of the deployment off the coast of Vietnam. I worked as a First Class Ordnanceman loading various weapons on the aircraft and repairing the weapons systems. The squadron is still stationed in Lemoore, Ca. and flies the F/A 18 Super Hornet.
