Geocache Description:

Do to Trail Work, I have had to move this cache. The area I originaly had it is is no longer there. New coordinates are N 44 35.131 W 069 39.701

I am placing this cache to draw your attention to the Quarry Road Recreational Area and its Winter Fest. This is put on each year by the Waterville Parks and Recreation, Friends of Quarry Road, Kennebec Messalonskee Trails and Greater Waterville Healthy Maine Partnership. This area was once owned and operated by Colby Collage as a ski hill. There is wide open area with groomed trails for cross country skiing and snow shoeing. The old ski hill that has grown in a little is now being used as a sled hill.

A lot of work has been done to this area and it looks great. There is even more upgrades planned for the area including snow making, and an ice rink. Maybe they will even get the ski hill going again. That would be cool!!! You can read all about the area at this web site.

At the winter fest there is free food, cross county ski instruction, equipment available to try, snow shoe races, winter bike demo’s, sledding, a bonfire and more.
