National Nature Reserve Belianske luky
In 1983, the Belianske luky Meadows were declared protected and today the area is registered as a national nature reserve. The reserve spreads on the area of 89.42 hectares and 4th degree of protection (the highest but one) is applicable here. Because of the extraordinary natural values of this locality, the Belianske luky Meadows with surrounding remnants of fens were in 2004 included in the Natura 2000 network, which places them among sites of European importance. After it was extended, its total area reached 105.77 hectares.
The Belianske luky fen is more than 10 000 years old. The peat is up to 3 metres thick in some places.
In the reserve, a unique complex of fen bog and wet meadows biotopes is significant. The most valuable are low sedges and herbs overgrowths with mosses underneath. A number of rare plant and animal species find their home here. Many of them are considered to be glacial relicts, which means they have been present here continually since the last glaciation.
The reserve is closed for public, the movement is allowed only along educational trail. TERRAIN MAY REQUIRE WATERPROOF FOOTWEAR !!!

Narodna prirodna rezervacia Belianske luky.
Belianske luky boli vyhlasene v roku 1983 za maloplosne chranene uzemie a v sucasnosti maju statut narodnej prirodnej rezervacie. Rozloha chraneneho uzemia je 89,42 ha a plati v nom 4. stupen ochrany. Vynimocne prirodne hodnoty lokality boli dovodom, preco boli Belianske luky a okolite zvysky raselinisk v roku 2004 zahrnute do sustavy Natura 2000, cim ochrana lokality nadobudla europsky rozmer. Celkova rozloha uzemia je po rozsireni 105,77ha.
Raselinisko Belianske luky je starsie ako 10 000 rokov. Hlbka raseliny miestami dosahuje takmer tri metre.
V rezervacii sa chrani unikatny komplex biotopov slatinneho raseliniska a vlhkych luk. Najcennejsie su nizke porasty ostric a bylin s kobercami machov. Svoj domov tu nachadzaju viacere vzacne druhy rastlin a zivocichov. Mnohe z nich sa povazuju za glacialne relikty, to znamena, ze ich vyskyt pretrvava na lokalite nepretrzite od ladovej doby.
Rezervacia je verejnosti nepristupna, pohyb je mozny len po naucnom chodniku. TEREN MOZNO BUDE VYZADOVAT NEPREMOKAVU OBUV !!!
