Details:
Ledges is a great place for an event, located between Boone and the
Iowa Arboretum where numerous caches of all types are already in
place. There are more than 200 caches within a ten mile
radius of the park. Plus, Ledges is home to one the oldest
caches in Iowa (Forgotten Monument, currently Iowa's 3rd oldest
active cache).
Along with the festivities, the meal will be
picnic/potluck style. Attendees are asked to bring
their own drinks and a dish or two to share. There are grills
available, but you will need to bring your own meat and grill it
too. The event team will provide paper plates, napkins and
cups.
We will have a balloon-tying geo-clown named "TopHat
LaClown," who will be making ballon animals for the kids
from 9:00 am to noon.
We have several door prizes in mind, but we also welcome
contributions/donations.
There will be 20+ temporary caches placed along
the trails throughout the park. These will be "kid-friendly" caches
and will be well stocked with kid-friendly swag. You will be able
to log these temporary caches online through the permanent "logger"
cache. http://coord.info/GC26CHR
Additional Rules: "Divide-and-conquer-style" team
caching will not be allowed when seeking the new permanent caches
released during this event. Team geocaching is allowed, even
encouraged, as long as all members of your team who are caching at
the time are present at each cache when you sign the log. Any cache
logs claimed by using the divide-and-conquer team style will be
deleted. Any questions concerning this rule may be directed to
Jackpine-Savage.
Disclaimer: Attending the Central Iowa
Geo-Adventure event and its activities is completely voluntary.
Event attendees assume all risks in attending the event and seeking
geocaches. Neither the event coordinators, the event staff, nor the
event helpers may be held liable for any direct, indirect, punitive
or consequential damages connected with this event.

Permanent
Caches:
4.5 Terrain Challenge
(10 permanent caches) - We will use this event to debut the
team's "4.5 Terrain Challenge," a series of caches rated 1x4.5 to
5x4.5 that can fill the 4.5 terrain column of your
difficulty/terrain grid. The first 100 cachers who complete all 10
caches in that series, will earn a pathtag specially made for
completing the challenge. These caches will be as challenging as
they sound, but our area also has numerous caches with lower
terrain ratings.
