A small cache hidden at the Solar Car Park in Isla Vista
The Solar Car Park is a 45 space public parking lot on a half-acre site that once housed a Chevron gas station. It incorporates a number of innovative green design elements including a 17 kW solar panel system that powers lighting both in the lot and along Pardall Road. The solar panels also provide shade to keep cars cool during
the summer. Other green design elements include a rain water catchment system to irrigate the landscaping, two electric vehicle charging stations, a seating area constructed of local sandstone, and bio-filters that act to remove pollutants from storm water before it reaches Isla Vista beaches.
