Inaugurata nel 1963 la Passeggiata era venuta a sancire un momento culturale particolarmente felice e significativo per la cittadina ligure, chiamata a rivestire un ruolo di avanguardia a livello internazionale nel campo della ceramica artistica.
Venti artisti hanno fornito gratuitamente al Comune i bozzetti, i loro progetti sono stati poi tradotti dalla ditta Vega di Carcare nei grandi pannelli figurati formati da tesserine triangolari di opale vetroso, intervallati da quelli di collegamento, a fasce bianco - azzurre.

Albissola Marina is a small town on the western Riviera in Liguria, which until the 1970s had never had a true sea promenade but only a cement pavement footpath that followed the direction of the sandy shore. In 1961, the City Engineering Department was appointed to draw up a design for a promenade which also provided for new paving for the footpath. Aligi Sassu, at the time a town councillor as well as a highly renowned artist, had the idea of a promenade which would recover the 'total art' concept.
