Geocache Description:

This is the Capstone of the C.A.B.L.E. (Camp Adair Building Locater Excersise) series. I will have an appropriate gift to mail to the First to Complete! I dedicate this cache to my uncle, Richard O. Powell, who served with Patton in the Battle of the Bulge, and to all the other veterans of WWII.

Welcome to the Camp Adair Chapel Challenge.  Completing this challenge will encourage you to try geocaching.com's sister site, Waymarking.com. Your user name and password work on both sites.

There were eleven chapels at Camp Adair.  When the cache was published in 2011, I had located seven of them.  As of March 27, 2021, I have now found ten of the eleven chapels! Still looking for that last one...maybe you can help find it?

The challenge is this ... find the nine relocated chapel Waymaking.com sites in Oregon and then claim this cache.  (The chapel site in Crescent City, CA is not required)  To claim a waymark, you need to photograph it and upload the photo and your log. Please note that the chapel at Rocky Butte is just inside the gate to City Bible Church, so you don’t even need to drive onto their property. A short walk, and you can take your photo easily. The one at Camp Colton is now private property, which is a shame, as it is the one closest to original condition. So this one can be claimed by taking your photo by the road sign. Be careful, there is another small church right next door, so don’t get the wrong one.

I have included links to the ten relocated chapel locations below.  You can easliy search Waymarking.com for "Camp Adair Chapel."

After you have completed the required finds, you may claim this geocache. Found logs not meeting the requirements of this cache will unfortunately be deleted. The cache difficulty has been increased to match the overall effort required to complete this cache.  The final cache would be rated as a 2.5D/2 5T (as of July 2024 this is the loneliest cache in Benton County according to Project GC).

Happy hunting! And may you learn something new and enjoyable. You may find that this will double your adventures as many waymarks are all around you. Waymarking is what used to be the “Virtual” caches. I have found many things locally that I didn’t know were there! Valsetzpegleg
