Originally released for Halloween 2012, the “Haunted Marlborough Series (HMS)” celebrates the rumored historical hauntings of this fine Metro-West city with many colonial roots.

Welcome to the Peter Rice Homestead! The house dates back to around 1688. In 1980 the Homestead was placed on the National Register of Historic Places – and is now currently the home of the Marlborough Historical Society.
Levinia and Otis Russell married in 1817 and came to live at the homestead. They had a large family of 17 children. Their youngest daughter, Sophronia, was born in 1835 and is inseparable from the history of the house. She was weakened by ill health, but with her two unmarried brothers, Austin and Herbert, managed the farm for many years. The Peter Rice Homestead was finally sold out of the family in 1894 when it was purchased by Edward Fitch. Sophronia continued to live with the Fitch family as a "favorite aunt" until her death in 1903.
Sophronia lived in the same bedroom (front, left room on the second floor) her whole life. People have reported hearing whispers in that room, felt someone watching them or looking over their shoulder – and even seen apparitions of a woman in a long red dress. Some have also felt cold spots, or reported feeling touched when nobody was around. Others still have said that, while they were going up the stairs, they had the sensation that something else was coming down...
With so many generations of families having lived here for centuries, there may yet be other spirits haunting this famous house as well…
The hide is across the street from Sophronia's watchful stare. So, don't be too scared... There is no need to go on the property!
