Geocache Description:

This is a Family Series of caches around one of our local walking areas. A short(ish) walk around a duck pond and reservoir of Helensburgh which is fun for all Geo Cache families.

As a new family of Geo Cachers, we have decided to hide a series of caches around our local walking route. This is an area that is accessible for children and families of all ages and abilities so here are a few caches to start your collection off, including five possible ‘First to Find’ rewards, some Geo-coins, Travel Bugs and even our own new Travel Bug key rings. The terrain and walking route for this series of caches is easy for all ages and abilities, but it does get muddy and wet. Be prepared for wellies and waterproofs. Though the paths are fairly good you must watch the waters edge with smaller children. You should not have to step to far off the trail to find each cache, but watch out for Muggles as this is a popular area for dog walkers and joggers. There is a small free car park as you head out of Helensburgh on the B832 (Luss Road). The Carpark is a fair sharp left turn into it and you are advised to park carefully as it is easy to block each other in without realising it. There are some benches and tables so picnics are a possibility but there is no toilet facilities. Please ensure your rubbish and dog mess is taken away with you. A bit of stale bread might just be fun too as the ducks (which ones will you spot (visit link) are very friendly and always hungry. In the winter the duck pond does freeze over but do not chance going out on the ice as you will fall through and that will spoil your walk and geo caching. These routes over looking the town of Helensburgh (visit link) you can pop into town and one of the many warm and hospitable cafes for a treat afterwards.
We are having a couple competitions as a family; the fist is a giant size galaxy chocolate bar for the first cache to be found and then a super prize on the 1 January 2012, for the Travel Bug that has travelled the most miles(km).
