Geocache Description:

A “Meet & Greet” Event at the above coordinates, Chewacla State Park. This event is to enjoy the fellowship of fellow geocaches and the great outdoors. We will begin about 10:45 am.

There will be hot dogs and drinks provided. Any additional dishes, chips, treats, or desserts are welcomed.

Beautiful Chewacla State Park was created by the Civilian Conservation Corporation or C.C.C. in the late 1930’s. It was an initiative started by Franklin Roosevelt under his New Deal program to combat the Great Depression. You can still see the influence of the C.C.C. in its many stone creations from the cabins to the dam.

There is a $3.00 per person entrance fee, however seniors (62 and older) and children (6-11) is $1.00. The “Walk in the Park” will be held at the CCC Pavilion. This event is done with the cooperation of the Park Staff and they will direct you to the event area. The manager of the park will be present to address the event and answer any questions you may have.

The park is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, however times will vary during daylight savings. You can verify the time the park opens and closes with the park employees. Parking is allowed ONLY in designated parking areas. No parking along the road is allowed.
There are several trails throughout the 696 acres of park, one of which goes past the waterfall. Unique rock formations and a variety of trees, flowers, and wildlife can be found throughout the park. There is a playground and a designated swimming area that has a diving platform.
The park offers three different types of camping. Primitive, Water/Electricity, and Full Hook-up, and also has small and large cabins along the lakeside.
There are many pavilions within the park, which would be an excellent way to have family reunions, birthday parties, or a graduation celebration.

There is a 26-acre lake with stream feeding and one stream flowing out. The lake has many varieties of fish typical for Alabama

Rumors have it that the Director of Evil along with her sidekick Woodnutt might have a new cache or two in the park. And to make matters better (or worse) SWSEC and MedTech are in cahoots with those two in scheming evil hides.

After the event a list of new caches in the area will be given out as well as there will be two USB flash drives that contain the new caches for all those FTF thrill seekers. These two highly guarded flash drives will be available AFTER the event. Be sure someone in your party brings thier laptop and USB cords, the caches will be in a GPX format. Also remember there is no electrical power at the event so make sure your laptop is fully charged. See you on top of the little hill.
